Word Wednesday–NOT Genesis 38

November 7, 2012 / by Jodie / 2 Comments

Know what I’d have loved today?  If somehow, Genesis 38 was about Jesus coming back.  That’s what I’d love more than anything.  Because I’m in that mood today.  Or if we’d hit Daniel 2, when Daniel says in the first part of 28, “There is a God in heaven.”

Know what?  Let’s go there.  Let’s skip Genesis 38 and jump into that verse in Daniel.  Because I’m feeling that this morning.  And sometimes, feelings are good.  🙂

Daniel 2:28a (NIV)–but there is a God in heaven…

I’m usually not a fan of lifting part of a verse out of its context and going with it, but let’s face it…  This little bit of Daniel’s full sentence to King Nebuchadnezzar (can you believe I spelled that right the first time?) about dreams is true.  No matter what.  No matter when.  No matter who.  It’s true.  There is a God in heaven.  There will always BE a God in heaven.  Always.  One day, this earth will be no more.  There will still be a God in heaven.

I’ll confess I was really down this morning when I woke up.  The state of our world grows more evident every day.  We spit in God’s face often and, sadly, easily.  I was kind of hoping for some indication that we were maybe growing aware of that.  That maybe we were seeing how we’re throwing His laws back into His face.  All I got was confirmation that we’re willing to keep walking down an immoral path.

But then I thought about God.  And about how there was never one pause in the praise of God Almighty.  There never is.  He is praised always.  He is Almighty always.  No matter my personal storm.  No matter what happens in my life or in the collective lives on this planet.  Always God.  Always on the throne.

Amen.

This is just what I needed this morning because I too, woke up in a low mood and praying. Wanting a hint from God on why he didnt allow a Christian man to run this country. Yes I was expecting something..but of course God is going to sit back, sip his coffee and smile like he ususally does when I wake this way. I feel this is God’s way of showing us patience that we sometimes dont have and that we dont always get what we pray for even though we pray for it a thousand times. The next 4 years will bring us closer to God and to strengthen our relationship with him. 🙂

Tara, I love how when I’m down and thinking I have no idea what to do, God shows up if I just shut up. I wish I could remember to shut up more often. Miss you. I have a feeling we’d have some good chips and salsa discussions, huh?
