Happy New Year! Well, almost. Still a couple of days left in 2014. It is hard for me to believe how fast this year has flown. So much has happened in 365 short days. I left my teaching job to write full time. Crossfire released in January, then Holiday Defenders AND Quilted by Christmas hit in October. I signed a two-book contract for the first time. Changed agents. Went to Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference (and registered to go next year too). Spent some time with my “critter sisters.” Watched my daughter discover her inner athlete. And a whole lot of other stuff that I’m too tired to remember right now. 🙂
Most importantly, I saw grace play out in ways I never, ever dreamed would happen in my lifetime. God. He’s so… everything.
That said, let’s talk about the next year and God Himself. About 15 years ago, I got convicted. I’ve been a Christian since I was a child, but at no point had I read the entire Bible from cover to cover. Personally, it’s my belief every Chrsitian should. Yet, so many of us haven’t. It was something I decided to change, so I decided to read the whole thing. It was AMAZING. It has become an every other year requirement for me, and in a few days, I will complete sixth time through. Rather than take a year off, though, I feel compelled to do it again.

I’m doing a chronological reading this time, found at this link. Here’s what we’ll do…
Every Monday, I will post the week’s readings. Then, we will discuss our favorite verse for the previous week. Perhaps it will be one that ministered to you. Convicted you. Challenged you. Comforted you. Made you see God in a whole new way. I’ll tell you mine, and you can drop into the comments to share yours.
Sound like a plan?
If so, here is this week’s plan…
Wednesday 1/1–Gen. 1-3
Thursday 1/2–Gen. 4-7
Friday 1/3–Gen. 8-11
Saturday 1/4–Job 1-5
Sunday 1/5–Job 6-9
Are you ready? Let’s see what God has to say… together!

This is a great plan! I find myself every year wanting to read the Bible all the way through and I start but then I start slacking off. Maybe this is what I need, someone to read the Bible with and be accountable.

YAY! I’m looking forward to this. I love doing a chronological reading. It’s really meaningful.

Jodie, I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve have never completed a read through. Between quiet times and Bible study, I’m in the Word a lot, but just haven’t read it cover to cover. Now I’ve started many times; in fact, I’m quite familiar with the first few Old Testament books! So I’m going to make another attempt and like doing the chronological pattern you mentioned. Thanks for taking the lead, Jodie.

Praying you reach next December 31 with the entire Bible read! It is definitely an experience you will never forget, and it’s amazing how I always find somthing new.

Hi Jodie! I was raised in church and always been in church, but never have read through the Bible. I have always read my Bible, but this year for the first time I read through the Bible. I would love to join your group and read through the Bible again.

Welcome, Barbara! It will be so worth it. I love what I find going through everything God’s given to us!

Jodie, I’m so glad Barbara joined us here! She and I were in a Facebook group that was reading through last year . . . She obviously made it and I didn’t. Your group will be great for accountability. And Barbara, welcome!!
