This past week, I realized it’s been exactly five years since God took my life and put it on a rocket. Really. That’s how it feels. Seems crazy all that’s happened in five years: on six-weeks notice, we moved from Georgia to Tennessee, my husband deployed, came home, retired, got a new job, we moved from Tennessee to North Carolina, we bought our “forever home” and moved yet again, husband started a new job, I went back to teaching, left teaching… And then there are the books God’s let me write. I realize it’s been fast. I realize I’m blessed. And honestly, there are days I sit, throw my hands in the air (in a good way) and say, “God! What are you doing? ‘Who am I, and who is my family that you have brought me this far?'” (You know, King David?) Because every ounce of everything that has happened has been all Him. There’s no doubt about it. If I sat down and told you all of the stories of all of the ways I’ve seen His hand at work, we would be here all day. Literally.
I’m nobody. God is everything.
In October, Quilted by Christmas and the novella in Holiday Defenders both release. (See? Fast.) I thought it would be fun to take a few Fridays in October to talk about the books and some of the “hidden secrets” in them. Because see, every author has things hidden in their books or stories about their books, whether it’s intentional or not. That’s because some tiny piece of what’s inside comes out onto the page. It never fails, at least not for me.
Here’s a tidbit to start, and I hope you’ll come back and learn some more. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Quilted by Christmas started as a book about the Titanic.
And then I figured out I don’t have the patience or organizational skills to write a historical anything. So it languished until one day…
