It’s Christmas Song Time!

November 26, 2012 / by Jodie / Leave a Comment

Last year, it was kind of fun to start after Thanksgiving and talk about some of our favorite Christmas songs.  Around my house, it is pretty much against the law to play Christmas music before Thanksgiving day.  Well, we cheated a little this year, because the local radio station went all Christmas on the Monday before Thanksgiving, and there’s no stopping my kiddo once she hears the first notes of a Christmas tune.  It was all over the moment she recognized “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”  (Can I just say that’s one of my top ten least fave Christmas songs?  I’m not sure why.  Maybe it was overplayed when I was a kid.  Who knows?  But this year, that was the first Christmas song we heard.  Yay.  I could do without that one and “My Grownup Christmas Wish.”    I’m much more of a “Joy to the World” kinda girl, and I ain’t talkin’ Jeremiah the Bullfrog either.  Which is likely a whole other story.)

Last year, we toured back through my four decades into my favorite songs from when I was a kid all the way up til now.  I’m thinking this year we’ll do a little more randomness.  So today, let’s pick those oldies but goodies, the ones that have been spinning for their own few decades now.

Growing up with my dad, there was always, always, always music going in our house.  And it was the good stuff.  The sixties stuff.  The Temps and the Tops, the Beach Boys and the Beatles.  (Well, to be fair, the Beatles was my mom…)  Yet, somehow, I didn’t find this little gem until I was all grown up.  And every Christmas, it’s one of the first I want to hear.  It’s just too cute.  You have to love it.  For me, it’s a classic.  Hope you enjoy!
