Kate Dearing’s life is turned upside down when her father loses everything in a railroad land speculation and she and her brother are shipped off to their mother’s brother, Sir Anthony, in England with one edict: marry money.
Though their uncle tries to ensure Kate finds matrimonial prospects only among the highest echelon of British society, her attentions stray to the one of the least eligible people at her uncle’s home—the garden designer.
Trying to push her feelings for the handsome—but not wealthy—man aside, Kate’s prospects brighten when a friend of Sir Anthony’s, a wealthy viscount, shows favorable interest in her. But will marrying for the financial security of her family be the right thing to do, when her heart is telling her she’s making a mistake?
Mandates . . . money . . . matrimony. Who will follow the heart?
Sounds great, doesn’t it?
I am so excited! I recently got to read an advance copy of Kaye Dacus’s new book, Follow the Heart, Book One of her Great Exhibition Series. It’s her best yet, as far as I’m concerned. That book ate up a whole Saturday, from six in the morning to about six at night, because I just kept reading. It will be out with B&H Publishing in May 2013, but Kaye’s up to some fun right now with a scavenger hunt to celebrate revealing the awesome cover. Ready?
Scavenger Hunt Trivia:
Directions: Each participating blog has both an answer and a question—but the answers and questions aren’t on the same blog. DON’T POST YOUR ANSWERS HERE! Collect the questions and answers in an e-mail—along with the address of the site where you found each—to be sent to Kaye Dacus once you’re confident you have all of them and be entered to win one of FIVE signed copies of Follow the Heart when it releases in May 2013. Visit http://kayedacus.com for the list of participating sites in the scavenger hunt and rules for entering the contest.
Question: How large was the Crystal Palace?
Answer: Construction on the Crystal Palace began in August 1850 and was predominantly finished in January 1851. “All these Commissioners and the Executive Committee etc. who had worked so hard and to whom such immense praise is due, seemed truly happy, and no one more so than Paxton, who may feel justly proud. He rose from an ordinary gardener’s boy! Everyone was astounded and delighted” (Queen Victoria).
Okay, folks! Be sure to leave a comment below to solidify your entry. Have fun!

April, That’s one of the things I love most about her books. The little details are what draw me in. She’s the best I know for bringing in the “little things” that make it real. Thanks for dropping by!

Thanks for particpating in the scavenger hunt! Two of the blogs I follow posted questions yesterday, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it or not. It seemed like a lot of work! But I kept thinking about it, so I decided to go for it, and it has been a blast! I really cannot wait for this book to come out now! Thanks again and God bless! 🙂
