Ladies and Gentlemen We have a name!
It’s been a strange ride with this military suspense. It has been different in every way from my other four books. Some books come easy and nearly write themselves. Some require thought and planning. This one? Every word came out kicking, screaming, and clawing. It was only in the third revision that I started to really like it. I mean, you always have affection for your books, but it took a while for me to develop love for this one.
At any rate, that difficulty applies to the title, too. Amazing Agent Sandra and I gave it a name early on, but neither of us was ever over the moon about it. It fit my book, but it wasn’t something I could see myself saying for the rest of my writing life. When Steeple Hill bought it, they suggested a name change. (Sigh of relief…) Know what? Three weeks of thinking yielded nothing. Hours of brainstorming? A few. I sent a list of eight to my editor (two of which I liked) and held my breath.
Well, today she sent me an email. And they’ve chosen one of my two faves.
Freefall.
There you have it! The title of my first published novel, coming from Steeple Hill’s Love Inspired Suspense in late 2012!
How. Cool. Is. That?
