Freakishly Fanciful Friday

April 1, 2011 / by Jodie / 20 Comments

Fridays are pretty random around this blog.  Sometimes there’s a cartoon.  Sometimes there’s a personal post.  Sometimes there’s  a serious post I couldn’t fit elsewhere in the week.  So let’s be random together this week.  Sound like fun?

I found this question on plinky.com, and since my dear friend and crit partner Christina says I talk about food way too much, I thought it would be fun to ask y’all…

What unusual food combination is surprisingly tasty?

If you know me, you already know what I’m going to say… Doritos and M&Ms.  Yes, together.  Yum! I really believe God intended for them to be mixed.  There’s something about the salty kick of nacho in the chips and the sweet choco-wonderfulness of M&Ms that just… Ahhhh… Heaven on earth.  And if you add a Mountain Dew to that, well, now we’ve just visited a whole other realm, haven’t we?

So, what say you? Leave a comment and give us all something new to try this weekend.

Cold leftover pizza and a glass of milk is the best breakfast EVER. Either that or scrambled eggs topped with maple syrup….. 🙂

And what kind of M&Ms do you eat? I’ve often wondered if one kind makes your combo more magical than another.

Agreed! Cold pizza is good ANY time. Fighting the urge to order pizza as we speak. 🙂 I like plain ol’ M&Ms with it. The dark chocolate ones work too. Actually, any kind of chocolate rocks Doritos…

Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it! Mom used to make pancakes and eggs for dinner all the time when we were growing up, and the syrup inevitably ran across the plate, so we’d get a bite or two of sweet, sticky eggs… pretty soon, we just started pouring it over everything, and now that’s the only way my sister will eat them!

Hey, Joanna!!!! I think I could go for that one. It seems like a great complement to Doritos and M&Ms… Tell Julianna happy birthday!

If you have to cut carbs, try peanut butter on Breyers Carb Smart ice cream bars, or peanut butter on Sunbelt oats & honey granola bars, or Russell Stover sugar free toffee squares, or Quaker caramel rice cakes with, what else?, peanut butter. Mrs. Butterworth’s sugar free syrup is great! ps. Not everyone thinks peanut butter is all that great, and these treats are all delicious without it. Try to eat fruit INSTEAD of drinking juice. Way better for you. Try snacking on raw veggies without dressing. You taste the veggies better & find out what you really like that way! Great for snacking! ♥

You said peanut butter. That’s as far as I got. I’ll eat peanut butter on peanut butter…

Okay, I loved the Creamy Cucumber dressing on Ramen, but I just can’t get behind this one. That sounds really gross. 🙂

Hm. Cottage cheese pancakes. No. Not that I remember. I was bummed when creamy cucumber and creamy italian went away. There was cucumber ranch for a while, but it wasn’t the same.

You’re right it was definitely not the same….would you eat some chicken and rice if it had creamy cucumber dressing on it?

Doritos & milk? Milk & pizza? Pizza & ranch dressing. Yummm.

I know I have more “outlandish” tastes but since you asked, I can’t think of a one. 😉

Oddly enough… Doritos and milk actually sounds gross. Says me, the girl who eats them with chocolate. And my daughter LOVES pizza with Ranch dressing. She can thank her Aunt Lesley for that one…

Ranch on most things is YUMMY. Potatoes, pizza, burgers….
Don’t knock the Doritos & Milk till you try it. The milk offsets the spicy-ness (spiciness??) It’s 11, the spelling portion of my brain is already down for the count.

WHY am I NOT surprised the first post I read involves Doritos, M&Ms, and Mountain Dew? Why oh why???

On that note, I know you know about my red Jello and chocolate covered coffee beans issues (I don’t eat them together, necessarily)… my newest weird food combo is A-MAZING: beef jerky covered in dark chocolate. Sounds freakishly disgusting when, in reality, it’s delicious. AND… it’ll be the talk of the party if you bring it to a get-together. YUM!

Yeah, the red Jello thing sort of grew to legendary proportion with us for some reason. And I still don’t get it. And please do not EVER ask me to “get” jerky and chocolate. I thought Doritos and M&Ms were weird. I’m passing the trophy to you…
