Hm. It’s Word Wednesday, the over 18 edition. This week we look at Song of Solomon. It’s kind of tough to be G-rated with Solomon, isn’t it? Seriously, though, I love this book. I love it on the earthly level, of the honest love and passion between man and woman. And I love it on a heavenly heaven, of Jesus’ love and passion for us. It’s so beautiful. Take the time to drop down to the comments below and share what spoke to you out of Song of Solomon. I’d love to hear from you!
Song of Solomon 6:3a (NAS)–I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.
Like I said, there’s an earthly level and a heavenly level here. Believe me, I adore my husband. We’ve been married 14 years and it still does something to my heart (and to my stomach–such butterflies!) to say we belong to each other. Ever thought about what that means? That gets to me in a way I can’t describe. Let me give you an example: He owns a Harley, and I enjoy riding with him. Occasionally, he’ll prop his elbow on my knee as we ride, and that is absolutely one of my favorite things in the world. Why? Because I know he would never, ever rest his elbow on anyone else’s knee. I’m his. He’s mine.
And on the heavenly level? Oh wow, that gets to me even more. I am God’s. And He is my God. I belong to the King of Kings. Oh, there aren’t words! I am owned by the Almighty, and He loves me more than I can fathom. My relationship with Him is not like your relationship with Him. Your relationship with Him is not like your neighbor’s relationship with Him. It is special and intimate and wonderful in its own way. How cool is that? We are His, and He allows us to say He is ours.
