Woo Hoo! It’s Word Wednesday! Hope you’ve been reading your Proverbs and are ready to share your favorites in the comments!
Proverbs 3:24-26 (NAS)–When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
Oh, how I LOVE this verse! As someone whose life was once defined by fear, the promise of this verse still amazes me. If you’ve read around the website, you know I once suffered from a panic disorder that prevented me from leaving my house for several months and that marked my life for ten years. It actually made me afraid of going out because I might have a panic attack. Fear of fear. Sounds insane, doesn’t it? On my 28th birthday, God delivered me. He 100% delivered me. He healed me. He took away fear that was nearly a part of my DNA.
So when I see verses like, “Do not be afraid of sudden fear… for the Lord will be your confidence” it makes me want to stand up and sing. I don’t have to fear ever going back to a place of fear. Why? Because the LORD is my CONFIDENCE. That gets me so excited I can hardly come up with words to describe it. God’s got it. He’s my deliverer. And that rocks my world. And believe me, if He can heal someone as messed up as I was, I have no doubt He can heal anything. Love to hear Mandisa sing it, “My deliverer has set me free from all that held me captive!”
